Commonly Asked Dental Questions Grand Rapids

We’ve Got the Answers You’ve Been Waiting For

O’Brien and Ellison DDS is a dental practice that cares about keeping patients informed and educated. The oral healthcare field is vast, so we expect you to come to your appointment with questions or concerns. However, to clarify some of the most common inquiries we receive, we’ve provided the answers below. Feel free to look over them and call us if you have additional questions.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! We are always willing to accept new patients. Call to find out when you can schedule your initial visit. New patient exams involve a comprehensive head and neck exam, oral cancer screening, a review of your dental history and gum condition, dental cleaning, and much more. We accept X-rays and dental information from previous offices to help provide a complete dental history if possible.

When should I bring my child in for the first time?

We love to see children of all ages at our office. We recommend children come in for their first visit between the ages of two and three. There are many important questions we can answer relating to your child’s dental health, even before their initial visit. A great way for children to be comfortable in a dental setting is to accompany a parent to a cleaning. Early and regular child cleanings and exams have been shown to significantly reduce early childhood cavities and promote positive lifelong habits.

What should I do if I have an emergency after hours?

While many dental problems can be prevented with regular care, we understand that dental emergencies do happen. Please contact our office immediately so we can get you scheduled as soon as possible.

If your emergency happens after hours or over the weekend, our dentists can be reached directly through an emergency phone service. Please call the office, and you will be connected to one of our doctors.

What is the best way to pay my bill?

The easiest way to pay your bill is through our online portal system. Please follow the RevenueWell link provided on the top of this webpage. If you have not set up a login, please follow the directions provided for new users.

If you do not wish to pay online, please call the office or stop by at your earliest convenience.

Where should I park when I arrive?

We have parking directly behind the building with an entrance off Quimby Street. If there is no room in the parking lot, there is a public lot on the south side of Quimby Street that always has available parking.
